DAILY PRAYER POINTS AND DEVOTIONALS

Here’s what we’ll be praying for, plus some quick devotionals to support as we go through our prayer & fasting week.

"ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN"

‘One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will the Kingdom of God come?” Jesus replied, “The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by visible signs. You won’t be able to say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over there!’ For the Kingdom of God is already among you.’ — Luke 17:20-21 (NLT)

As a church, we believe that eternity isn’t something that starts after this lifetime—it’s happening right now! Jesus taught that the Kingdom of Heaven is already here, present among us. When he spoke to the Pharisees, he said, ‘The Kingdom of God is in your midst,’ and he encouraged his followers to let others know that wherever they went, ‘the Kingdom of Heaven has drawn near.’ Wherever God’s presence is, the reality of heaven—what we call ‘Kingdom culture’—can be lived out. This means we can choose to live in a way that brings more peace, love, and justice, making God’s will “on earth as it is in heaven.”

Bookmark this website to watch the short devotional videos, take some time to meditate on the verses, and wrap up by answering the guide questions on your own or invite others to join you! We’re excited for what God will do as we sacrificially take the time to set ourselves aside and fix our eyes on him, worship him, glorify him, and hunger for more of him in our lives and church.

MONDAY

Day 1: Experiencing God’s Kingdom Here and Now

Reflection and Worship

Today, we worship Jesus—recognizing him as God and the ultimate source and standard of love. Let’s celebrate his goodness, kindness, and love, asking that we grow deeper in awe and gratitude for his presence, and reflecting his love in all we do.

VERSES

Colossians 1:19-20 (NLT) “For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself…”

1 John 4:16 (NET) “And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has in us. God is love, and the one who resides in love resides in God, and God resides in him.”

John 1:1 (NET) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God.”

Hebrews 1:3 (NET) “The Son is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, and he sustains all things by his powerful word.”

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  • In what ways have you experienced God’s kindness, goodness, and love in your life?

Today, take some time to thank Jesus for these things.

  • What are some ways that you may have withheld love from others?

  • How does knowing that Jesus is God and he is love change your relationship with him and with others? What are wrong perceptions of him that you need to change?

Day 3: Growing In the Fruit of the Spirit

Knowing what God has done for us produces in us the desire to be more like Jesus! We invite and partner with the Holy Spirit to grow his character within us. As we abide in him, we pray that love, joy, peace, patience, and all the fruits of the Spirit flourish in our lives, bearing witness to who he is and his work within us.

VERSES

Galatians 5:22-23 (NET) “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

John 15:5 (NET) “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me—and I in him—bears much fruit…”

Colossians 1:10 (NLT) “Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.”

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  • How has God’s love stirred your desire to become more like Jesus?
  • Where do you need the Holy Spirit to grow fruit in your life?
  • How can you abide more deeply in Jesus and allow Him to work in you today?

Day 4: Sharing the Good News with Boldness

We’re praying for courage and the urgency to share the Good News of Jesus with those around us. With hearts full of faith, let’s ask the Holy Spirit for opportunities and the boldness to share Jesus with those in our worlds—believing for salvation and transformation in our communities.

VERSES

Romans 1:16 (NET) “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes…”

Mark 16:15 (NET) “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

1 Peter 3:5 (NET) “But set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope you possess.”

Colossians 4:5-6 (NLT) “Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.”

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  • Was there anyone who shared the gospel to you? Who were the people who planted seeds of truth in your life? How did they change your life?
  • Who in your life is in need of the hope you’ve found in Christ?
  • How can you ask the Holy Spirit for boldness, wisdom, and readiness to act today?

Day 5: Living By the Power of the Holy Spirit

We can’t live like Jesus without the Holy Spirit. We need him and humbly ask him to fill us afresh, empowering us to live boldly for Christ on earth as it is in heaven!

VERSES

Romans 8:11 (NET) “Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.”

2 Corinthians 3:17 (NET) “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom.”

1 Corinthians 4:20 (NET) “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.”

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  • What are the areas in your life where you’ve relied more on yourself instead of relying on the power of the Holy Spirit?
  • How can living by the Spirit change the way you reflect Christ to others?
  • Did you experience the Holy Spirit’s power and guidance this week? How can you experience that more in the coming weeks?

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FASTING

WHAT IS FASTING?

Fasting is when you give up food for a certain amount of time. When we remove or reduce our food intake, it weakens our bodies, forcing us to become closer to God and rely on his strength more than our own.

Fasting is not required for salvation, and there’s no pressure! But, it is something that Jesus did (he didn’t eat for 40 days at one time) and instructed his disciples to do. Check out Matthew 4:1-11 and Matthew 6:16-18 to see more about Jesus’ heart for fasting.

The power of fasting comes when we combine it with prayer and the faith to believe that God will come through. So what are you praying for this fast? Set your goals and be expectant. Let the desire of what you’re believing for be greater than your desire for food. But more than these things, let’s desire for greater intimacy with Jesus.
1

PLAN YOUR FAST
Decide what you are going to fast, then prepare physically, mentally, and practically. Plan your schedule to include more time with God, and plan to change your diet in the lead-up to allow your body time to adjust. Make sure to check with your doctor if you have any pre-existing conditions that may affect your ability to fast.
2

SET YOUR OBJECTIVES
Ask yourself: 'What am I praying and believing for?' It may be your family, breakthrough in your career, greater intimacy with God, financial provision, or something else. Be clear and define your objectives before you fast.

3

GET YOUR HEART RIGHT
It's hard to hear from God and grow in your intimacy with him if your heart is not right. The two key areas to look at here are unconfessed sins and offense. It's important to get these areas in your heart right before fasting!
4

PRAY
It may seem obvious, but if you're just fasting and not praying, it's simply a hunger strike! Fasting is all about becoming more intimate with God. As you fast, pray and intentionally spend time with God, asking him to speak to you!
5

EXPECT RESULTS
Fasting done right will help you grow closer to God and become more reliant on him! Fasting is not a cure for every issue, but it is a great way to develop your relationship with God.

The biblical model for fasting means giving up food—either completely or in part. You can also fast from distractions like social media and technology. Although these are not in the Bible, it does make sense to fast from things that distract you in your relationship with God. However, we’d encourage you to also fast from food—this is the best way to notice your physical weakness and begin to rely on God’s strength.
