This 2023, Favor Church is coming to Korea. We’ve been praying about this for awhile and we are excited to bring Jesus to a nation that needs him more than ever. Starting in the Seoul Capital Area, a multicultural multi-faith metropolitan area with the fifth largest population in the world, our vision and dream is that more people would be radically transformed by God’s power and love. Join us as we embark on this adventure!

Join the Connect Group

As a Connect Group, we meeting online every other week to talk about life, learn more about our faith, grow closer to God, pray for each other, and build a community together! If you’re currently in Korea (or know someone who is in Korea) and are looking for a group to do life with, in whatever season you’re in, sign up below!

Apply for the Launch Team

Do you have a heart for Korea and the calling to help start this church from the ground up? We’re looking for the brave and the called to join us on this adventure. We’ll start accepting applications after the Interest Night on September 1.

Come to the Interest Night

September 1, 7:30PM on Zoom

Join us for our first Interest Night! Pastors Woolim and Shiloah Ma will share about the heart and why behind this Korean calling, as well as answer questions about the what and how: how to join a Connect Group and what Connect will look like in the first seasons of this new church, how to organize a Watch Party, what we’re looking for in people who feel called to join the Korea launch team, and more!

If you (or someone you know) are either in Korea and curious about Favor Church or in the Philippines (or anywhere else in the world) and have a heart for serving in and helping grow Favor Church in Korea, RSVP for the Zoom invite!

Our Lead Pastors

Woolim & Shiloah Ma

Woolim and Shiloah Ma are the Lead Pastors of Favor Church Korea. Their combined heritage—Korean, American, Filipino—has given them a love for people from different cultural backgrounds. They love hearing people’s stories and are passionate about helping people live full and redeemed lives through Jesus.  In 2023, they’ll be moving to Korea with their two kids Ella and Jacob, and their dog Charlie.

You Asked

We want to be at the center of all the action, in Seoul and/or the area(s) surrounding it, which is home to around 10 million people, 40 universities, and headquarters to global companies like Samsung and Hyundai.

We’ve already begun meeting as an online Connect Group! We meet regularly to talk about life, grow together, and pray for each other. After the Ma family moves to Korea, the Connect Group will begin meeting in person regularly. As we get more Connect Group members who live in the same area, we will start organizing Watch Parties in Seoul, where people can gather to watch a service and connect in person.

If you know people in Korea that might want to be part of our church family, spread the word and help us during this season of planting.

Korea is home to some of the largest churches in the world. And while it experienced unprecedented growth and is a major missionary sending country—second only to the United States—the Korean church has experienced a decline in the last 25 years, with 70% of 20- to 30-year-olds claiming to have no religious affiliation.  Korean society is also filled with pressure and social expectations that add to the discontent of many younger Koreans.

We feel that there is a massive opportunity for both non-Christians and “once-Christians” to discover a new kind of faith, one filled with joy, hope, life, and favor! We believe that Korea is yearning for a new relationship with Jesus, the Jesus that wants them “live life and life in full.” (John 10:10).

There are many ways to partner with us in this exciting season:

  1. Pray We need to touch this in the supernatural before we witness God’s move in the natural. Pray for people to come to our Connect Groups. Pray for leaders to rise up. Pray for the Korean people we will eventually encounter and for their hearts to be reached. Pray for the Ma family as they go, that the Lord will protect them and provide for them in every way.
  2. Give – We need resources. The cost of living in Korea is similar to first-world countries in the West. We don’t want to just survive, but we want to thrive. If God grows this church, we want to have means to rent a venue, hire staff, buy equipment, etc. We believe that God will miraculously provide and that he does that through his people.
